Edna Valley Shangri-La
Nestled within the rolling hills of Edna Valley, this private oasis was designed to harmonize with the surrounding natural landscape.
Organic patterns of the surrounding environment were integrated into the landscape in contrast with modern lines that echoed the home’s architecture.
The result was a distinctly Californian paradise, a vision of Shangri-La.
Environmental factors, such as the site’s serpentine soils significantly influenced planting decisions.
The use of plants endemic to those soils created a blurred line between where the landscape ended and the natural environment began.
